Before any treatments a complimentary consult is required. At the consultation we will review your medical history (please bring a list of all current medications and supplements). We will do a patch test, discuss options, benefits and expectations for treatment. Photos will be taken at the consult and treatment appointments.
· It is imperative that you avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 4 weeks prior to your treatment. This is a must and no exceptions will be made.
· Avoid applying self-tanner for 2 weeks prior to treatment. Use a SPF of 30 or higher on a daily basis.
· Avoid Aspirin and Ibuprofen for one week prior to your treatment. Inform your clinician if you are taking blood thinners or regularly taking Aspirin or Ibuprofen.
· Avoid alcohol for 2 days prior to treatment.
· Inform your clinician if you have taken Accutane (oral acne medication) in the past 12 months
· Store ice packs in your freezer for use after procedure, if required.
· Please do not wear perfumes or essential oils to any of your appointments.
· A waiver form will be given to you at the consult appointment. Be sure to ask any follow up questions you may have.
· Avoid other skin treatments 2 weeks prior to appointment. Including but not limited to – fillers, injections, chemical peels, and microdermabrasion. Do not use any topical products that cause photosensitivity (hydroxyl acids, salicylic acid, retinols and benzoyl peroxide).
· Use a broad-spectrum SPF of 30 or higher in between appointments.
· Clients with abnormal moles, spots or lesions in the area to be treated will require a consult and clearance from their medical provider.
· Please be advised you will be the only one allowed in the treatment room during the appointment. (Unless you are accompanying a minor during their procedure).
· Please contact the clinic PRIOR to your appointment if you are taking any new or different medications, including antibiotics. Or if there are changes in the medical history you provided us.
Day of the procedure
· If possible, arrive at without creams or make-up on the treatment area. Otherwise please arrive 10 minutes early in order to clean the skin. Cleansing products are available for your convenience.
· Plan on being at your appointment 45-90 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area.
· Please do not wear perfumes or essential oils to any of your appointments.
· You will be required to wear the protective eye wear provided to you during your treatment.
· Please bathe or shower on the day of your appointment.
· Expect your skin to appear pink (resembling mild sunburn) for a few hours after treatment.
· Your skin may be temperature sensitive for several days after treatment. You may find the treated area may be slightly puffy after treatment. Cool compresses or ice packs may be used after treatment (please do not put directly on skin).
· Use mild cleansers and moisturizers. Cleanse twice a day with warm water.
· Avoid hot showers, swimming, hot tubs, chlorine and chemicals.
· Avoid Aspirin, Ibuprofen, alcohol, heavy exertion and activities which may cause flushing for 2 days after treatment.
· Avoid harsh topical products such as retinols and glycolic acid products for one week after.
· We suggest avoiding make up for 48 hrs after treatment.
· Avoid direct sunlight on the treated area and use a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher for 4-6 weeks after treatment.
· Anticipate some social down time following your treatment.
· After IPL treatments you may experience slight bruising will take 1-2 weeks to dissipate. Age spots and freckles will look darker for the first 3-7 days, which is normal. Skin will become crusty or flaky which may last 7-10 days. Blistering is rare; however may occur. A thin layer of an over the counter antibiotic ointment can be applied 2-3 times a day for 3 days. Please contact us if you are experiencing blistering.
· Do not pick or remove flaky, peeling or crusty skin.
· Avoid other skin treatments 2 weeks prior to appointment. Including but not limited to – fillers, injections, chemical peels, and microdermabrasion. Do not use any topical products that cause photosensitivity (hydroxyl acids, salicylic acid, retinols and benzoyl peroxide)
· Avoid waxing or other hair removal products on treated area for 2 weeks.
